Who We Are
For more than 50 years, Alberton Baptist Church has been sharing the good news of Jesus Christ in the heart of Western Prince Edward Island. Our goal is simple - to glorify God, reach the lost, and help believers grow in their relationship with Him.
Led by Pastor Ross Morrison, who has faithfully served in ministry for over 25 years, and assisted by Pastor Trey VanColen, our leadership team is passionate about teaching God's Word and caring for people in every stage of life.
We believe church should be more than a place you go on Sundays - it should be a community where you are encouraged, supported and challenged to live out your faith every day. Whether you are a long-time believer or new to church life, you'll find a genuine spirit of love and fellowship here at Alberton Baptist Church.
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust. I shall not be afraid. Psalm 56:3-4
Our Purpose
At Alberton Baptist Church, Our Church Constitution, speaking of our purpose as a Christian congregation says, " The purpose of this Church is to glorify the God of the Scriptures..." This is the explicit teaching of Scripture. We read in 1 Corinthians 10:31, " So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it to the glory of God."
Our Mission
Our Mission at Alberton Baptist Church is to make disciples of Jesus from all nations. We discover our Mission in Matthew 28:18-20, where we read, "18 And Jesus came and said to them, All authority in heaven and on earth has been giving to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Statement Of Faith
The Scriptures
We believe the Holy Bible is the complete Word of God. It is verbally inspired and God-breathed, written without error in the original manuscripts by men who were directed by the Holy Spirit. The Bible consists of sixty-six books, from Genesis to Revelation. As originally written, it does not merely contain or convey the Word of God—it is the very Word of God.
We believe the Bible is the final and supreme authority by which all human conduct, beliefs, and opinions are measured and tested.

The Godhead
We believe in one true and living God. He is an infinite Spirit—self-existent, self-sufficient, everywhere present, all-knowing, all-powerful, and perfectly wise. He is just, holy, full of goodness and mercy, and sovereign over all creation. As Creator, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe, He alone is worthy of all glory, honor, trust, and love.
Within the one Godhead there are three distinct persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—eternal and equal in every divine perfection. Each fulfills distinct yet harmonious roles in creation, providence, and redemption.
God the Father
We believe in God the Father, an infinite and eternal personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. As sovereign Lord, He rules over all creation with authority and care. He mercifully involves Himself in the affairs of humanity, hears and answers prayer, and saves from sin and spiritual death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. In His eternal plan, He purposed our salvation, foreordaining the death and resurrection of His Son so that we might be called children of God.

Jesus Christ
We believe in the full deity of Jesus Christ and His eternal existence with the Father. He is God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless and obedient life, performed mighty works, and taught with divine authority.
We believe in His substitutionary death on the cross as the perfect atonement for sin, His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, and His ongoing intercession for His people at the right hand of the Father. We also believe in His personal and bodily return.

The Holy Spirit
We believe in the full deity and personhood of the Holy Spirit. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He bears witness to the truth of the Gospel and is the divine agent in the new birth.
In the life of the believer, the Holy Spirit seals, empowers, guides, teaches, illuminates, sanctifies, and helps. He assures us of our salvation and works within us to fulfill God’s purposes.

Satan
We believe that Satan is a real and personal being, the originator of sin and the enemy of God. He is described as the god of this age and the accuser of believers. Though active in the world, his power is limited by God. He will ultimately be judged and condemned to eternal punishment in the lake of fire.

Humanity
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God. Through voluntary disobedience, mankind fell from a sinless state and became separated from God. As a result, all people are sinners by nature and by choice.
Because of this fallen condition, humanity is spiritually dead and unable to restore itself to a right relationship with God. All stand under just condemnation apart from Christ.
Scripture References: Genesis 1:26–27; Genesis 3:1–6; Romans 3:9–23; Romans 5:10–19; Ephesians 2:1–3, 12
Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gift of God, given by grace and received through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is not earned by works but freely given through God’s unmerited favor.
The foundation of salvation is the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Because He was sinless and perfectly obedient, He alone could serve as the perfect sacrifice for sin. On the cross, He bore our sin and paid its penalty. Through His resurrection, He conquered sin and death.
Each person of the Trinity is active in salvation. The Father chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world. The Son accomplished redemption through His atoning death and now intercedes for believers. The Holy Spirit brings conviction, leads us to repentance and faith, seals us, and guarantees our inheritance.
All who repent and place their faith in Christ are forgiven, justified, and declared righteous before God.

The Last Days
We believe in the personal and bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost. The redeemed will experience eternal joy in God’s presence, while the wicked will face judgment and eternal conscious punishment.
Scripture References: Matthew 25:31–46; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18
The Local Church
We believe the local church is composed of baptized believers who have been called out from the world and set apart for the Lord Jesus Christ. Believers gather voluntarily for the preaching and teaching of God’s Word, mutual encouragement, the spread of the Gospel, and the observance of the ordinances.
Each local church operates independently under the lordship of Christ, who is the only true Head of the Church.
The Ordinances
We believe Christ gave the church two ordinances: baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
Baptism
While baptism does not save, it is the next step of obedience after salvation. Through baptism by immersion, a believer publicly identifies with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection and confesses faith in Him.
Scripture References: Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12; Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 2:41; Acts 8:36–39
The Lord’s Supper
The Lord’s Supper is a privilege for all born-again believers. In this memorial, believers partake of bread and the cup as symbols of Christ’s body and shed blood, proclaiming His death until He returns. It is a time of reverent self-examination and confession before the Lord.
